Bright, modern kitchen with white cabinets, a farmhouse sink, and clean countertops ready for professional cleaning service.

One of the most common questions we hear at Brilliantly Clean is:
“Do I need to clean before the cleaners get here?”

The short answer? Nope! That’s what we’re here for.

But if you want to get the most out of your cleaning appointment—and ensure we can give you the deepest, most thorough clean possible—there are a few simple things you can do to prepare. These aren’t about scrubbing or vacuuming. They’re small steps that help us move efficiently through your home and focus on what really matters: getting it sparkling clean.

Here’s What You Don’t Need to Do:

❌ Vacuum or sweep before we arrive
❌ Clean the bathroom
❌ Dust furniture
❌ Wipe counters or mirrors

We take care of all of that—and much more. Our team is trained, thorough, and ready to tackle everything on your service list, from top to bottom.

What You Can Do to Help Us Work More Effectively

These small prep steps make a big difference and help us focus all our time and energy on what you hired us for—cleaning.

Tidy Up the Clutter

We don’t expect perfection, but picking up clothes, toys, or paperwork from floors and surfaces helps us access those areas more easily. The less we need to move or work around, the more thorough we can be.

Clear Counters and Sinks

We’ll happily clean your kitchen and bathroom counters—but if they’re covered in toiletries, dishes, or small appliances, we may have to clean around items or move them temporarily. A quick clear-off means a better result for you.

Make Sure the Sink Is Empty

We’ll clean your kitchen sink, but we don’t wash dishes. If dishes are in the sink, we’ll do our best to work around them—but empty sinks allow us to clean them thoroughly.

Check for Slow Drains

If your bathroom sink or tub has standing water or drains very slowly, it can limit how well we’re able to clean those areas. If possible, clear clogs before your appointment so we can get things shining.

Leave Out Fresh Sheets

If you’d like us to change the bed linens (included in all of our services), just leave clean sheets out on the bed or nearby. We’ll take care of the rest!

Remember: No Judgment, Ever.

We know life gets messy—and that’s why we’re here. Whether you’ve had a hectic week or a full-on meltdown in the laundry room (we’ve all been there), our job is to make your space feel fresh and peaceful again. You don’t need to scrub a thing before we show up.

Final Thoughts

So no, you don’t have to clean before we come. But a little prep can go a long way in helping us deliver the best possible clean. When your floors are clear, your counters are accessible, and we’re not untangling toys or dishes, we can spend more time on what really matters—leaving your home brilliantly clean.
